Police Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin, chief of PRO-7, created the Task Group Security, Task Group Peace and Order, and Task Group Emergency Response.
They have started conducting coordination meetings together with other agencies such as Armed of the Philippines (AFP).
PRO-7 is finalizing the number of personnel who will be deployed during the two major activities late this month, said Police Lt. Col. Gerard Ace Pelare, spokesperson of Aberin.
“We already have a template. You saw it last year, we were able to deliver a very safe and secured Sinulog,” said Pelare.
The Sinulog Grand Parade will still be held at the South Road Properties here.
Pelare said a command post will be established at the venue to oversee security.
He added that technology will play a big role in the security measures as the PRO-7 will use drones to monitor Sinulog activities that are expected to draw a huge crowd.
Mayor Michael Rama here and officials from the Cebu City Police Office inspected the area where the Grand Parade and Grand Ritual Showdown will be held.
Rama assured that the venue will be ready in two weeks.
