TAYABAS CITY, Quezon – A father and son were gunned down by their relatives over a land dispute in Barangay Isabang here on New Year’s Day.
Police identified the fatalities as farmers Elgelito, 64, and Joselito, 38.
Investigation said the victims were in their house when a suspect, Christian, arrived and threatened the victims.
The victims and Elgelito’s son, Rico, 37, a vendor, chased Christian, who led them to a part of the road where the other suspects, Armando, Vincent, 17; Venson, 21; Elmer, 40, and Jasper, a soldier, were waiting.
Vincent and Venson are sons of Armando and Elmer and Christian are nephews and Jasper is a relative.
The suspects fired at the victims, killing Elgelito and Joselito on the spot, and wounded Rico, who was taken to the Quezon Medical Hospital in Lucena City.
Armando, Elmer, Vincent, and Venson were arrested in a follow-up operation and Jasper voluntarily surrendered. Christian is at large.
Six empty caliber .45 shells were found at the crime scene.
