DMW activates helplines for OFWs, relatives after strong quake in Japan
The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has activated a helpline for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their relatives in the Philippines after a powerful quake jolted the western part of Japan on Monday, Jan. 1.
In a statement, the DMW said the helpline will facilitate the communication between the OFWs and their relatives, especially those needing assistance as a result of the 7.5 magnitude quake.
It said OFWs and their families may call the *DMW-OWWA Japan Help desk at Hotline 1348 or +632-1348 (from abroad).
Other hotline numbers are +81 7022756082 and +81 7024474016* for DMW--MWO (Migrant Workers Office)-Osaka.
The powerful quake damaged several roads and buildings and triggered tsunami warning.
Philippine authorities are yet to release statement on whether or not there are Filipinos affected by the earthquake.
There are around 290,000 Filipinos living in Japan.
