Man drowns in Ilocos Sur on January 1

SANTA, Ilocos Sur – A 49-year-old man drowned in the sea in Barangay Quezon District here on New Year’s Day.

Police identified the victim as Henry Benitez, a resident of Barangay Ampandula, Santa.

The victim went to swim in the sea while his family were having a picnic on the beach to celebrate the New Year.

Moments later, the victim was seen floating on the sea.

Police rescued the victim and was taken to the hospital where he was declared dead.
