CAMP OLIVAS, City of San Fernando, Pampanga – The Police Regional Office-3 reported 185 fireworks-related incidents and three illegal discharge of firearms in Central Luzon from December 16 to January 1.
PRO-3 Director Police Brig. Gen. Jose S. Hidalgo Jr. said this is higher by 109 cases or 41.08 percent compared to the 76 incidents in 2022.
Of the 185 FWRIs, 188 individuals were injured and three persons were arrested for illegal discharge of firearms in Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, and Tarlac.
One stray bullet incident was reported in Lupao, Nueva Ecija and this is under investigation.
Police seized 20,415 pieces of illegal firecrackers – Judas Belt, Five Star, Piccolo, and Kwitis – worth P196,428 and 13 vendors were apprehended.
PRO-3 said no major untoward incidents took place on December 31 to January 2.
