OIC village chair shot dead in Laguna

CALAMBA CITY, Laguna – An officer-in-charge (OIC) barangay chairman was killed in a gun attack in his house in Barangay Canlubang, this town, on Friday morning.

Police identified the victim as Mario Jun Castillo Cogay, 65.

Investigation said the victim was on the balcony drinking coffee when two men onboard a motorcycle arrived and shot the victim.

The suspects – driver wearing a black jacket, maong pants, and a silver helmet, and the back rider a black helmet – fled and the victim was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead from multiple bullet wounds.

Police are conducting follow-up operation.
