All members of the Manila Police District (MPD), including its non-uniform personnel, underwent random drug testing on Friday, Jan. 19, at the MPD headquarters in Ermita, Manila.

MPD said that it was the second day of the drug testing.
At around 4:40 p.m., the drug testing was still ongoing, police said.
The activity may continue on Monday, Jan. 22, for those personnel who cannot be tested today.
The activity is in accordance with the directive and program of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), which aims to detect if a member of the MPD is using illegal drugs.
MPD chief Col. Arnold Thomas Ibay said that members who will be found positive for drug use will be dismissed from the police service.
Ibay said that the result of the drug test will be out in a few weeks time.
