The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) launched a series of nationwide service caravan on Thursday, Jan. 18, in honor of household workers or “kasambahay”.
The activities “aim to bring government services closer to kasambahay by teaching them and their employers about their rights and responsibilities under the Batas Kasambahay,” according to DOLE.
The Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns (BWSC), a subsidiary of the agency, organized the national event at the Occupational Safety and Health Center in Quezon City in time for the celebration of the Araw ng Kasambahay (Day of Household Workers).
The theme for this year's celebration was #SerbisyoParaKayK.
DOLE said that the event provided a range of services and skill-building opportunities to household workers towards alternative employment opportunities.
The national event was organized by the DOLE in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Social Security System, PhilHealth, PagIBIG Fund, and the Philippine National Police.
The service caravan will travel around regional labor offices nationwide until Jan. 31.
