Capiz Gov. Fredenil Castro led the event at the Pueblo de Panay township in the provincial capital of Roxas City.

“This is not mine.  This is owned by your children in the future. This is owned by the future Capiznons,” said Castro in his message.

The project is a public-private partnership between the Capiz provincial government and developer Pueblo de Panay Inc.

Jose Nery “Bub” Ong, president and chief executive officer of Pueblo de Panay Inc., said the new capitol site will have a positive impact on the community.

The new capitol is being built on a three-hectare lot with a floor area of 15,000-square meters, more than double the present 6,000-square meter capitol that is a more than a century-old near the Roxas City Plaza.

The new capitol within the 670-hectare township of Pueblo de Panay is poised to bring provincial government services closer to the people of Capiz and is a manifestation of the growth and development of the province.

The new capitol is nearer to the Roxas City Integrated Transport Terminal, the hub for public utility vehicles that travel to other towns of Capiz.

The township has a mall and residential spaces and offices for the growing Information Technology and Business Process Management (IT-BPM) sector of Capiz, known as the country’s “Seafood Capital.”
