Caloocan anti-cybercrime team resolves 570 cases in 2023
The Caloocan Northern District Anti-Cybercrime Team (NDACT) announced on Friday, Jan. 19, that it resolved 574 out of 600 cybercrime incidents reported to them in the year 2023.
NDACT said that aside from investigations, it also conducted entrapment operations against 18 people and charged them for violation of Republic Act 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act).
Among the cybercrime incidents reported to them were online selling scams, phishing, and identity theft.
The team vowed to improve its operations against cybercrime this year.
Meanwhile, Caloocan City Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan lauded the NDACT for its achievements in the past year.
“Maraming maraming salamat po sa NDACT sa patuloy na pagtulong sa ating mga kababayan na maging ligtas maging sa cyberspace at asahan po ninyo na magpapatuloy din ang suportang ibinibigay ng aking administrasyon upang labanan ang anumang pagsasamantala sa mga Batang Kankaloo (Thank you very much to NDACT for continuing to help our people to be safe even in cyberspace, and expect that the support provided by my administration will also continue to fight exploitation of Batang Kankaloo) ,” he said.
“Para po sa ating lahat, maging maingat po tayo sa lahat ng ating mga ginagawa sa social media. Palagi po ninyong siguraduhin na sa mga tamang tao at mga beripikadong establisyimento lamang po kayo makipagusap nang sa gayon ay hindi kayo mabiktima ng mga masasamang loob (For all of us, let's be careful in everything we do on social media. Always make sure that you only talk to the right people and verified establishments so that you do not become a victim of criminals,” he added.
