7 hurt as 2 motorcycles collide in La Union


CAMP FLORENDO, La Union – Seven persons, including a barangay councilor, were injured in a collision between two motorcycles on the Naguilian-Bagulin Road in Barangay Tuddingan, Naguilian, this province, on Wednesday night, January 17.

NAGUILIAN municipal hall. Seven persons were injured in a collision between two motorcycles in the municipality on Wednesday, January 17.

Police identified the victims as Robert de Guzman, 55, barangay councilor and driver of a motorized tricycle, his passenger Gina de Guzman, 54, midwife; Rhusty dela Merced, 18, student, driver of a Suzuki 150 motorcycle, and bystanders Leimharlyn Abuan, 3; Maria Lailanie Anterio, 28; Rosalinda Cagayan, 33; and Aira Mia Aberin, 24.

Investigation said Dela Merced’s motorcycle accidentally bumped the motorized tricycle.

De Guzman lost control of its steering handle, stumbled on the road, and hit the bystanders.

The De Guzmans and the bystanders sustained injuries and were taken to the Naguilian District Hospital.

Dela Merced was also injured and taken to the Bethany Hospital in San Fernando City, La Union.

Police said that both vehicles incurred yet to determined repair cost.
