Surigao del Norte town eyes massive housing program

DAVAO CITY – A town in Surigao del Norte has expressed interest in hosting a massive government housing program.

The Office of the Presidential Assistant for Mindanao-Eastern (OPAMINE) and San Benito, Surigao del Norte Mayor Maria Gina Menil recently discussed the implementation of the Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino Program (4PH) in the municipality.

“We discussed the requirements of the 4PH program,” OPAMINE Secretary Leo Tereso Magno said.

He told local government unit (LGU) to prepare the list of beneficiaries for the program.

Magno added that the local government's willingness to fast-track the implementation of the program also matters.

“Mayor Menil promised to prepare all the documents as soon as possible so they can start the project in their town,” Magno said.

Magno signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Department of Human Settlement and Urban Development (DHSUD) to help lobby the program to LGUs in Eastern Mindanao.

The 4PH is one of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s priority projects.

Magno hopes that more LGUs would join the program as their help and cooperation will lead to its success.
