Light rains to persist in parts of PH due to shear line, 'amihan'
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Thursday, Jan. 18 said the shear line and the northeast monsoon may still bring light rains to parts of the country in the next 24 hours.

In its 4 a.m. bulletin, PAGASA said the shear line—a weather system where the cold northeasterly winds and warm easterlies converge—may bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to Caraga, Davao Region, and Northern Mindanao.
PAGASA warned of flash floods or landslides in times of moderate to heavy rains.
In Cagayan Valley and Aurora, cloudy skies with light rains may prevail, while Metro Manila, Visayas, and the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the northeast monsoon, locally known as “amihan.”
In the rest of Mindanao, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers will be experienced because of localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA also warned of flash floods or landslides that may occur during severe thunderstorms.
