Former village chair, nephew gunned down in wake

SAN ANTONIO, Quezon – A former barangay captain and his nephew were shot dead while attending the wake of their friend in Barangay Poblacion here on Wednesday, January 17.

Police identified the victims as Juan Isagani Mangundayao, former captain of Barangay Pulo, this town, and his nephew, Juan Leo Magundayao.

Lawmen said the victims were have a drinking spree at the wake of their friend, Jay-R Matanguihan, also a shooting victim, when a man arrived and shot them several times.

The suspect fled and is the subject of a police manhunt.

Victims were taken to the Villa Memorial Hospital in Lipa City, Batangas where they were declared dead.

Police said they have a person of interest in the killing.
