26th Halamanan Festival in Bulacan kicks off

In line with the celebration of the 109th founding anniversary of Guiguinto, Bulacan, the 26th Halamanan Festival in the town kicked off on Thursday, Jan. 18.

Guiguinto Mayor Agatha "Agay" Paula A. Cruz invited her constituents to join the four-day colorful celebration of the Halamanan Festival 2024 in the municipality 

The festival started with the garden competition, "Bagsak Presyo" sale of plants, and trade fair held at 8:00 a.m.

The Hari and Reyna ng Halaman competition was held at 4:00 p.m. at the Guiguinto Municipal Athletic and Cultural Center (GMACC). 

Mayor Agay said the scheduled programs on Jan. 19 include Bulaklak ng Halamanan, Bird Show, Yeba ng Halamanan, and Car Show. 

On Jan. 20, the activities that will start at 8:00 a.m. are Indakan sa Kalye, Parada ng Karosa, Sundaluhan with surprise artists, and a grand showdown at 5:00 p.m. 

Come Sunday, Jan. 21, the line-up of activities include Iskolaran and Padyak Sikad, Dog Show, Gawad Guintong Halaman, Ulat ng Bayan, and Musikahan sa Halamanan with Ben and Ben concert. 

Those who attended the festival opening were Bulacan 5th District Representative Ambrosio "Boy" Cruz Jr., the guest of honor and speaker; a group from San Miguel Corporation (SMC) led by Attorney Jane Vice Mayor Banjo Estrella, Sangguniang Bayan members, Guiguinto department heads, DepEd with teachers and students, and barangay captains.

In his speech, Rep. Cruz, the founder of the Halamanan Festival, thanked Mayor Agay for making the event more meaningful. He urged the Bulakenyos to forget politics. 

The lawmaker expressed hope that in the year 2030, Bulacan will become the most progressive province with the expected construction of the New Manila International Airport in Bulakan town.

Meanwhile, Governor Daniel R. Fernando, in a message read by Crispin De Luna, consultant to the governor, congratulated the Municipality of Guiguinto for the success of the festival activities. 

Fernando said the Halalaman Festival has introduced the town as the Garden Capital of the Philippines.

"Sa pagkakaisa at pagtutulungan ay makakamit natin ang tagumpay. At dahil sa inyong kooperasyon ay mapagtatagumpayan din natin ang pangangalaga sa ating likas na yaman sa lalawigan," (Through unity and cooperation we will achieve victory. And because of your cooperation, we can be successful in taking care of our natural resources," the Bulacan governor said.
