Shear line may continue to bring 'significant amount of rains' — PAGASA
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Wednesday, Jan. 17 said a huge part of Mindanao may experience “significant amount of rains” in the next 24 hours because of the effects of the shear line.

In its 4 a.m. bulletin, PAGASA said cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will be experienced in Mindanao due to the shear line—a weather system where the cold northeasterly winds and warm easterlies converge.
PAGASA said flash floods or landslides may occur in the affected areas due to moderate to heavy rains.
Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon or "amihan" may also bring cloudy skies with light rains to Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Aurora, Quezon, Marinduque, Oriental Mindoro, and Camarines Norte.
In Metro Manila and the rest of the country, PAGASA said partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains will also be felt due to the amihan.
