Muntinlupa, Taguig, Pateros mayors rank 6th, 9th in RPMD performance survey


The mayors of the cities of Muntinlupa and Taguig, and the municipality of Pateros ranked sixth and ninth, respectively, in the latest survey of the RP-Mission and Development Foundation Inc. (RPMD). 

The “Boses ng Bayan” survey covered the performance of Metro Manila mayors in 2023. It was conducted from Dec. 27 to Jan. 5 among 10,000 adult respondents.

“This survey, representative of the 67.75 million registered voters in the country, utilized a random selection process to ensure a diverse and proportionate representation of each city, aligning with official voter population statistics. The survey's findings are characterized by a margin of error of +/-1% and are reliable at a 95% confidence level, reflecting a robust and comprehensive analysis of the national sentiment,” according to RPMD. 

Among the 16 cities and one municipality in the National Capital Region (NCR), Muntinlupa Mayor Ruffy Biazon and Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano tied for sixth place with “significant approval ratings” of 84.8 percent and 84.6 percent, respectively. 

Pateros Mayor Miguel Ponce III ranked ninth with an approval rating of 81.1 percent. Pateros is the lone municipality in the NCR. 

“The “Boses ng Bayan” Annual Report 2023 encompasses an in-depth review of the mayors' roles over the past year, focusing not only on their administrative capabilities but also on their responsiveness to community needs and dedication to fostering sustainable urban growth,” according to RPMD. 

It added, “Derived from a carefully collated and analyzed array of public opinions, this report offers a transparent, detailed examination of the successes and areas for development in mayoral leadership, underlining the impact these leaders have on improving the quality of life in their communities.”

1. Mayor Joy Belmonte of Quezon City - 91.2%

Mayor John Rey Tiangco of Navotas City - 90.3% 

Mayor Along Malapitan of Caloocan City  - 90.2% 

Mayor Eric Olivarez of Parañaque City - 90% 

2. Mayor Vico Sotto of Pasig City - 89.7% 

Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano of Pasay City  - 89.5%

3. Mayor Abigail Binay of Makati City  - 88.3% 

4. Mayor Ben Abalos Sr. of Mandaluyong City - 87.1%

5. Mayor Honey Lacuna of Manila - 85.6% 

Mayor Wes Gatchalian of Valenzuela City - 85.5%

6. Mayor Ruffy Biazon of Muntinlupa City - 84.8% 

Mayor Lani Cayetano of Taguig City - 84.6%

7. Mayor Marcy Teodoro of Marikina City  - 83.5% 

8. Mayor Francis Zamora of San Juan - 82.3% 

9. Mayor Ike Ponce III of Pateros - 81.1%
