TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Police seized suspected shabu and marijuana worth P2.5 million from two drug pushers in a buy-bust operation in Purok 6, Barangay Calanan, this city, on Wednesday afternoon, January 17.

Police Capt. Ruff Manganip, spokesperson of the Kalinga Police Provincial Office, identified the suspects as John Michael Velarde, 25, of Barangay Bahay Toro, Quezon City; and Jake Tagle, 21, utility worker, from Barangay Bungad, Quezon City.
The suspects, listed as street-level individuals in the illegal drugs trade, yielded 20 bricks and one tubular marijuana weighing 21 kilos with a standard drug price of P2.5 million inside a red trolley bag, one sachet of shabu weighing two grams with an estimated street value of P13,600, boodle money, and two cell phones.
Manganip said that onsite inventory and markings were conducted in the area in the presence of the suspects and witnessed by a Department of Justice, media representative, and a Barangay Calanan kagawad or councilor.
Suspects and pieces of evidence are under the custody of the Kalinga PPO for proper documentation and filing of appropriate charges in court.
Police Col. Freddie M. Lazona, Kalinga PPO chief, commended lawmen for their accomplishment. Lazona assured the people that their campaign against illegal drugs campaign continues without let-up.
