Bacolod business registration up in 2023

BACOLOD CITY – The Bacolod Permits and Licensing Division Office (BPLO) has processed more than 25,000 business registrations in 2023.

It is eight percent higher compared to 2022, with only 23,000 business registrations, Stella Rose Rayos, Permits and Licensing Division head, said.

Rayos said that 3,749 new business permits were issued and more than 21,200 permits were renewed last year.

She said that their active inspection of business establishments and implementation of closure orders against violators contributed in the increase in business registration last year.

“This time, payers are now aware of their obligations to the city,” she added.

Aside from their intensified campaign, Rayos said that there were also new infrastructure in this city.

Rayos said that as of January 12, they have issued 1,100 business permits and 9,800 business registration through the Business One-Stop-Shop (BOSS) at the Ayala Malls Capitol Central here.

Business owners can process their applications with the BPLO manually or online.

However, there might be some delays in the processing online because of the system and slow internet connection, which needs modification, Rayos said.

Despite this, Rayos encouraged business owners to still try processing online.

BOSS will be until January 20 per city ordinance. She said that there’s no advise yet if it will be extended.

Business owners who will fail to process their registration and permits will have to pay a 25 percent surcharge as penalty while those who have already processed their application were given a 10 percent discount on their business tax.
