Assassin shot dead in Leyte


TACLOBAN CITY – An alleged gun-for-hire and his companion were gunned down in Ormoc City, Leyte on Wednesday, January 17.

Police identified the victims as Archee Fernando, 39, a suspected assassin, and his companion, Ronald Mainit, both residents of Barangay Campocpoc, Tabango, Leyte.

A SUSPECTED assassin and his companion were shot dead in Ormoc City, Leyte on January 17.  

Initial investigation said the victims were on their way to a hut to feed their fighting cocks when they were shot by unidentified gunmen.

Police recovered three fired caliber .45 bullets, nine fired caliber .45 cartridge cases, a fired 9mm cartridge case, and a caliber .45 bullet. 

According to the live-in partner of Fernando, he was a member of a gun-for-hire syndicate that operates in the third district of Leyte and was also involved in the illegal drugs trade. Before the incident, she said Fernando received death threats from unknown individuals. 

Bodies of the victims were taken to a local funeral home while the Ormoc City Police Station 5 is conducting a follow-up investigation and pursuing the suspects.
