Probe on murder of voice coach continues despite suspect's admission
CEBU CITY – Police will continue to investigate the killing of a known voice coach even after a man admitted that he was behind the crime.

THE case of voice coach Joel Unchuan remains open, police said, even as a man has admitted to killing him.
Police Lt. Col. Gerard Ace Pelare, spokesperson of Police Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin, chief of the Police Regional Office-Central Visayas, said they are not closing the investigation yet to determine if the suspect had cohorts when Joel Jude “Coach J” Suson Unchuan was killed in Mandaue City, Cebu.
Sanny Lumangca admitted killing the victim by strangling him using a belt inside Coach J’s Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV).
The suspect admitted that he and the victim argued after they had sex.
The victim’s body was found on December 30 on the side of the road in the City of Naga, southern Cebu.
The suspect surrendered to the police last week.
Pelare said they will investigate why the victim’s body was found in the City of Naga when the crime was committed in Mandaue City.
The suspect also admitted that he doesn’t know how to drive a car but the victim’s SUV was recovered in Liloan town, northern Cebu.
Police have filed murder charges against the suspect based on the extrajudicial confession that he executed.
