PAGASA: Light rains to persist over PH due to shear line, 'amihan'
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Tuesday, Jan. 16, said the two weather systems affecting the country remain the shear line and the northeast monsoon or "amihan," which may bring light rains to parts of the country in the next 24 hours.

In its latest bulletin, PAGASA said the shear line---an area where the cold northeasterly winds and warm easterlies converge---may bring Northern Mindanao, Caraga, and Davao Region cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.
PAGASA said flash floods or landslides may occur in the affected areas due to moderate to heavy rains.
Meanwhile, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Aurora, Quezon, and Bicol Region will have cloudy skies with light rains, while Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon, and the rest of Visayas will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the northeast monsoon.
Moreover, in the rest of Mindanao, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers will be expected due to localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA also warned the public of flash floods or landslides that may occur during severe thunderstorms.
