ISO recertification boosts OVP's service capability—VP Duterte

Vice President Sara Duterte believes that the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) recertification will push the Office of the Vice President (OVP) toward achieving its goal of delivering efficient and quality public service.

The Vice President congratulated the OVP team for their “resilience, hard work, and commitment to excellence,” adding that 2024 “will be a year of even greater accomplishments.”

“This ISO certification shows our resolve to serve the Filipino people effectively and with integrity. It is a positive start to our year and marks a new phase in our commitment to public service, aligning us with international management standards,” Duterte said, according to a transcript of her speech posted on her Facebook page on Tuesday, Jan. 16.

“Let's use this momentum to propel us towards our 2024 Planning Conference. Our goal is to align our office with an even stronger commitment to genuine public service. This event will help us evaluate our performance and explore opportunities for improvement. It is a chance to assess our commitments and foster development,” the official added.

Noting that the recertification is a “timely venue” to define the OVP’s targets for 2024 and 2025 across its offices, Duterte expressed gratitude “for the strong spirit of cooperation and unwavering dedication” of the OVP.

In an earlier statement, the OVP said that the office underwent audit sessions last Dec. 6, 2023 for the ISO 9001:2015 recertification. Aside from the OVP recertification for the next three years, the OVP Satellite Offices in Davao and Panay and Negros Islands also got certified for the first time.

The Vice President shared that the TUV Rheinland looked at various areas like planning, management information, accounting, budgeting, knowledge management, general administration, social services programs, human resources, training, and internal audit.

This led to the ISO Certificates and an Official Audit Report with 13 positive observations, she added.

Addressing her team at the OVP, Duterte said she was “grateful and proud to work with all of you.”

“Let us remain on course and upbeat on our mission of public service with integrity and heart. Let all our collaborations make a lasting impact on the lives of Filipino people. Our goal is to deliver efficient, accessible, and responsive programs,” she furthered.

“Let's keep resilience, integrity, diligence, and excellence at the forefront as we work towards improving the quality of life for all our people.”

The 2017 ISO certification was awarded during the term of former vice president Leni Robredo, who stepped down from office in June 2022.

The ISO certification is “consistent” with Executive Order No. 605 series 2007, which seeks to institutionalize quality management systems in government by directing all departments and agencies of the Executive branch, including all government-owned and/or controlled corporations (GOCCs) and government financial institutions (GFIs) “to adopt the ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management Systems as part of the implementation of a government-wide quality management program.”
