As a major step toward inclusive urban development, the city government of Las Piñas announced its participation in the 2024 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) national rollout.
Las Piñas City Mayor Imelda Aguilar said the data-driven initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance local governance and ensure that the delivery of services is aligned with the needs and aspirations of its residents.
Aguilar said the CBMS seeks to gather comprehensive data on various aspects of life in Las Piñas, including health, nutrition, housing, water, sanitation, education, and employment.
She said the information will be instrumental in crafting targeted policies and programs that address the specific challenges faced by the community, including infrastructure improvement and support for vulnerable sectors such as informal workers, micro-entrepreneurs, solo parents, public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers, and Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).
The mayor is encouraging residents to participate in the census and assures confidentiality through the use of LGU Suite, indicating a modern, tech-enabled approach to data collection and analysis.
Aguilar said as part of the project, the city government is also recruiting Data Field Workers from within the community.
She said interested applicants with tech proficiency, community engagement skills, and a commitment to service are encouraged to apply at the Mayor's office.
The mayor added that as the city moves forward with the census and recruitment, these efforts will likely not only influence the quality of public services but also strengthen the community's role in governance.
Aguilar said the dual drive for census participation and worker recruitment demonstrates Las Piñas' commitment to inclusive growth and sustainable urban planning, highlighting the integral role of community involvement in urban development.
