DSWD Asst. Secretary for Strategic Communications Romel Lopez said the DSWD, through its Field Office in Ilocos Region (Region 1), provided 1,500 family food packs (FFPs) to the city government of San Fernando on Monday, Jan. 15.
DSWD's assistance, on the other hand, also reached Calabarzon. The agency's Field Office also coordinated with the local government of Taytay, Rizal, to assist families affected by a fire incident in Barangay San Juan.
According to a report by Regional Director Barry Chua to the DSWD Central Office, the field office is "ready" and has already "coordinated" with the Rizal Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) to provide additional resources from their prepositioned items.
Based on the report, DSWD said over 43 families, or 200 individuals, lost their homes and are currently staying in a temporary shelter set up by the LGU.
He assured that all concerned field offices would remain in "constant communication" with the affected LGUs to determine other interventions to help the victims recover from the incident and resume their normal lives as soon as possible.
