MPD starts preparations for 'Lakbayaw' in Tondo

The Manila Police District (MPD) has started preparations for the festival of Sto. Niño "Lakbayaw" in Tondo, Manila slated on Saturday, Jan. 21.

According to the MPD Police Station 2, no street vendors will be allowed on Ilaya Street in Tondo from Jan. 15 to 21 to give way to thousands of devotees who are expected to arrive during the festival.

PS-2 Commander Lt. Col. Wilson Villaruel said "regular routine patrolling" is being conducted around the Sto. Niño Church to maintain cleanliness, following the clearing operations held on the first and second weeks of January.

MPD PS2- Dagupan Outpost and some volunteer groups also conducted a flushing operation on Jan. 10 at the procession routes.

The MPD said hundreds of personnel will be deployed to ensure the security of the attendees.
