Mayor Sandoval launches 'Walang Tulugan, Serbisyo Caravan’ in Malabon


Malabon City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval led on Monday, Jan. 15, the launching of a series of city government activities that aims to bring various services closer to the Malabuenos.

The "Walang Tulugan, Serbisyo Caravan" features different local government programs and treats for the residents which will be held simultaneously in different parts of the city until Tuesday, Jan. 16. 

It was part of the celebration of the mayor's birthday on Sunday, Jan. 14, and of the city's achievements in 2023.

Among the programs was the blessing of the Malabon Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office's (MDRRMO) new man lift truck, two ambulances and two motorcycles. The vehicles will help make the MDRRMO's emergency response better and faster.

During the activity, the MDRRMO personnel performed a demonstration of a rescue operation where they showed how the new vehicles improve their response time and actions during emergency situations.

Mayor Jeannie also led the distribution of 5,500 school kits to the learners in Tonsuya Elementary Schools. The kits included backpacks and various school supplies with  lunch boxes, tumblers, socks, utensils, and umbrellas.

The Public Employment Services Office (PESO) also opened the “Pangkabuhayan Caravan” one-stop-shop at Barangay Atis Covered Court from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m on Monday, which offers different services including a mini job fair in partnership with 10 companies and a help desk for overseas Filipino workers.

Meanwhile, the City Social Welfare and Development Office and Monitoring and Evaluation Office launched the “Walang Tulugan, Malabon Ahon Blue Card Caravan,” where different services for about 7,000 beneficiaries, including Ahon Card distribution and ayuda redemption at Hulong Duhat Covered Court and Diwa Covered Court in Tugatog at 9 a.m. 

According to the city government, they are targeting about 94,000 households in the city to get their Ahon Cards which will allow residents to access different social services.

It said that a total of 68,361 Ahon Cards were released to the families as of January 14, 2024.

Mayor Sandoval, along with City Adminisrator Alexander Rosete, also led the inauguration of the Malabon City E-Learning Center at the Malabon City Library in Barangay Catmon.

The local government said that the E-Learning Center has an “Integrated Tutoring System” which provides feasible innovative ways for children to be more pro-active in literacy and numeracy ability. It also gives them personalized guidance for their individual needs and pacing in learning.

It improves the experience of students by achieving personalized learning, adaptability, feedback mechanism, engagement, diagnostic assessment, knowledge retention, interactivity, and accessibility. 

On Tuesday, the city government will conduct Simultaneous Clean-Up Drive in Barangays Panghulo, Santulan, Maysilo, Muzon, Bayan-Bayanan, Flores, Concepcion, Ibaba, Acacia, Tinajeros, Tanong, Niugan, and Longos starting 6 a.m.

The activity will be participated by various local and national agencies including the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology.

The local government said it will also launch the Malabon TV, a televised local program that will feature the current events in the city through high-quality videos about news updates and events, among others.

The program will be live-streamed on the Facebook pages of Malabon TV (https://web.facebook.com/MalabonTVofficial/) and other city government departments.

The city’s “Second Chance Program" that will provide livelihood and educational assistance to former persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) from the Malabon City Jail will also be launched on Tuesday.

Around 70 beneficaries will receive start-up capital assistance worth P5,000, while 33 PDLs who are planning to take Alternative Learning System Training Programs will also be given P8,000 each, the city government said.

There will also be 50 PDLS who wanted to go back to their hometowns who will be given P3,500 each through the program, it added

Meanwhile, the four Super Health Centers in Longos, Tonsuya, Catmon, and Potrero will also hold a dental and reproductive health caravan where they will conduct HIV/AIDs testings, pap smear, family planning, and animal bite services for over 2,000 beneficiaries.

Also included in the list of activities for the “Walang Tulugan, Serbisyo Caravan” are the distribution of scholarship certificates to City of Malabon University (CMU) students; free legal consultation at the Malabon City Hall lobby; free sweet taho to residents in Barangay Panghulo, Santulan, Maysilo, Muzon, Bayan-bayanan, and Flores); free sorbetes (3 p.m. at Barangays Concepcion, Ibaba, Acacia, Tugatog, Tinajeros, Tanong , and Niugan); free movies for senior citizens at Fishermall Malabon; free haircut, manicure back massage, and eyebrow arching; a concert and fireworks display in Barangay Catmon ; "Ahon Kabataan Disaster Challenge;" inauguration several infrastructure projects; distribution of financial assistance to 20 cooperatives/businesses; and free registration and distribution of birth certificates for 120 beneficiaries.

Sandoval encouraged the Malabuenos to avail the free services being conducted and enjoy the treats provided by the city government during the two-day caravan.
