The first couple attended the lavish 10-day royal wedding in Brunei of one of Asia’s most eligible bachelors and his commoner wife, the granddaughter of an adviser to Brunei's leader, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah.

“Congratulations to the newlyweds!,” Marcos wrote on Facebook on Monday, Jan. 15.

“To the newlywed couple, Liza and I pray that your journey together be filled with a lifetime of love and happiness. May this union bring continued prosperity to the nation of Brunei,” he said.

The President extended his gratitude to His Majesty Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam “for the gracious invitation to attend” the wedding of His Royal Highness Prince Abdul Mateen and Yang Mulia Dayang Anisha Rosnah in Brunei.

Marcos posted some photos of the ceremony, including a processional that he attended.

He was also photographed talking with Indonesian President Joko Widodo, who had just came from the Philippines for an official visit.

The prince, who is popular for his looks and military service, announced his engagement to Yang Mulia Anisha Rosnah last December. His now-wife reportedly owns a fashion and tourism company.

Prince Abdul Mateen, 32, was dressed in ceremonial white uniform and his bride, 29, wore a long white dress and jewels during the ceremony held at the Istana Nurul Iman Palace.

Afterward, the newlyweds appeared sitting at the back of an open Rolls Royce that took them through the streets of Brunei’s capital, Bandar Seri Begawan.
