2 employees rescued as fire hits Malate office


Two employees were rescued from a burning low-rise building on Agoncillo Street, Malate, Manila on Monday, Jan. 15.

The Bureau of Fire Protection identified the victims as Darwin Pandog, and Ken Sideño, both 24, employees of Luxury and JP International Corp.

According to the BFP, the fire started at around 1:30 a.m. on the first floor of Agoncillo Town Homes, a three-storey business-type occupancy.

The blaze was raised to the first alarm at 1:39 a.m.

The BFP said the firefighters responded to two victims who were heard screaming from the third floor. 

They were immediately assisted to evacuate the building.

The victims did not sustain wounds but were given treatment for smoke inhalation.

The blaze did not spread to adjacent houses and was declared under control at 1:50 a.m. 

It was extinguished at 2:04 a.m.

Around ₱225,000 worth of property was damaged in the fire.

Arson investigators are still determining the cause of the fire.
