PH Red Cross deploys EMS, welfare services for Sinulog Festival
The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) on Sunday, Jan. 14, said it has deployed emergency medical stations and units to provide emergency medical services (EMS) and welfare services for this year’s Sinulog festival.

In a statement, the organization said two rescue boats, four ambulance units, first-aid stations with welfare desks, a food truck, and an Emergency Medical Unit/Tent (EMU) were mobilized along the venues of the festival.
To operate these medical stations and units, the PRC deployed 200 personnel from its Cebu, Lapu-Lapu, and Cordova Chapters, which include volunteers, EMS foot patrollers, water search and rescue teams, a medical corps, in-house doctors, and welfare teams.
PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Richard Gordon commended the PRC teams for their commitment to serving the Filipino people—not just during disasters but also throughout the country's grand celebrations.
Gordon further guaranteed that the PRC will keep operating until the Sinulog Festival is concluded.
“Our EMS teams will remain on standby to deliver medical attention to Filipinos and international tourists participating in the Sinulog Festival,” he said.
For her part, PRC Secretary General Dr. Gwen Pang reminded the public participating in the event to practice prudence, advising them to “drink a lot of water and bring snacks” and “wear proper clothing and footwear.”
From Jan. 11 to 13, the PRC has provided EMS and welfare services to 60 attendees at the Sinulog “opening salvo” Mass, Novena Masses, Walk with Jesus, and Sinulog sa Dakbayan.
