Gang member arrested for possessing firearm in Sampaloc

A 26-year-old gang member was arrested for possessing a firearm in Sampaloc, Manila on Saturday, Jan. 13.

The Manila Police District (MPD) identified the suspect as Israel Balatucan, a Sputnik gang member and resident of Bangkulase, Navotas City.

MPD said it received a call from a concerned citizen about an unidentified man carrying a gun at Lerma Street in Sampaloc, Manila.

Police were dispatched to the area to verify the report. U

Upon their arrival, the operatives spotted the suspect who matched the description given by the concerned citizen.

The suspect ran after the police approached him.

The suspect was arrested after a short chase and was brought to MPD Barbosa Police Station.

A caliber .38 revolver with two pieces of live ammunition was confiscated from the suspect.

He was charged with Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
