Ruling DPP's Lai ahead on 41.6 percent in Taiwan vote count: partial results
TAIPEI, Taiwan– Lai Ching-te of the ruling Democratic Progressive Party took a clear lead in Taiwan's presidential election count Saturday, claiming 41.6 percent of ballots cast, according to the island's polling authority.

With results counted from more than 60 percent of polling stations, Lai was well ahead of his nearest rival Hou Yu-ih of the opposition Kuomintang, who was on 33.2 percent, according to figures from the Central Election Commission.
