"Raul Rodrigueza Lee's life as a public servant traversed through decades of devotion to serve his constituency – the Sorsoganons,” a press statement said.

“He began his life-long commitment in the year 1968 as barangay captain in Barangay Sulucan (Sorsogon City) where their old house was situated and then proceeded to becoming member of the municipal council and in the long run as town mayor from 1972 to 1977," it added.

Lee was governor of Sorsogon from 1978 to 1986, 1995 to 1996, 1998 to 2007, and 2010 to 2016.

He was best remembered for his prompt action during calamities.
