FDA issues warning on unregistered, 'unsafe' food products
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has cautioned the public against purchasing and consuming several food products that did not undergo its evaluation process.
As of Friday, Jan. 12, the FDA has identified 14 products that are deemed "not considered safe."
The list of unregistered food products includes "Yani’s Best Delicacies Mt. Kitanglad Biscuit-like product inside yellow packaging,” “BN Food Products Manufacturing Hopia Monggo,” “Yani’s Best Delicacies Mt. Kitanglad Dark Color Biscuit-like product in yellow packaging,” “Coco Fall In Love with Cream Bar Matcha Mellow Delicious,” “Go Bananas Special Banana Crackers,” “Jams Repacking Fish Cracker – Hot & Spicy,” “R and G Chips Healthy Food Production Manung Toto Banana Chips – Cheese,” “Z-Coolers Orange Juice Drink,” “Adonis Longlife Pancit Canton,” “VVC Confectioners’ Powdered Sugar,” “ISOG Premium Robusta,” “JV’s Strong Salabat,” “Traditional Wood Fired Catimor Arabica (Kape Lumad) Choco Hazelnut,” and “Bukidnon Coffee Cinchona Lantapan.”
The FDA, through online monitoring and post-marketing surveillance, has confirmed that these products lack proper registration, and no corresponding Certificate of Product Registration (CPR) has been issued for them.
Under Republic Act No. 9711, also known as the "Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009,” the FDA reiterated that the manufacture, importation, exportation, sale, and other related activities of health products without proper authorization are strictly prohibited.
The agency stressed that these unregistered products pose potential risks as their quality and safety have not been assured through the FDA's evaluation process.
The FDA urged all concerned establishments not to distribute, advertise, or sell these "violative food products" until they obtain the required Product Notification Certificate.
Consumers were advised to exercise caution and vigilance when purchasing food products, checking for proper FDA registration and certification to guarantee the products' adherence to health and safety standards.
