PH Red Cross responds to communities struggling with water interruptions in Bacolod

In response to the struggles of communities with water interruptions, the Philippine Red Cross (PRC), in a statement on Friday, Jan. 12, said the organization acted quickly to provide a water tanker to Barangay Mandalagan, Bacolod City.

The PRC reported that since Jan. 4, more than 600 households have been struggling with water interruptions that resulted in locals having "limited to no access to clean water" for a week.

The organization then underscored its immediate action to aid the water interruption after learning from the PRC Negros Occidental-Bacolod City Chapter that the community had been experiencing this issue.

Approximately 123 affected families in the barangay received around 35,000 liters of water from Jan. 9 to 11, according to the PRC.

Furthermore, PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Richard Gordon also deployed 11 Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) personnel to assist the families in storing water.

“Inilapit namin sa mga tao ang water tanker. Naglibot kami sa lugar na apektado para masiguro na ang lahat ng mga pamilyang nangangailangan ng tubig ay mabibigyan. (We brought the water tanker to the people. We went around the affected area to ensure that all families in need of water were provided)," Gordon said.
