Man urinating in public arrested in Pasay City; yields 'sumpak'

A man who was caught urinating in public was arrested and yielded an improvised gun or “sumpak” during the conduct of “Oplan Galugad by members of the Pasay City police Substation-8 on Friday, Jan. 12.
Col. Mario Mayames, Pasay City police chief, said the suspect, identified as JR, was caught by members of Substation-8 urinating in public at around 12:45 a.m. along Airlane Road, Aeroville, Barangay 198, Pasay City.
Mayames said JR, when approached by patrolling policemen in violation of city ordinance and being informed of his violation, yielded the improvised handgun or “sumpak” and one piece of .9mm caliber ammunition.
He said the suspect was immediately detained at the police custodial facility after his arrest.
The city police chief added that the suspect was charged for violation of City Ordinance No. 1572 (urinating in public) and Republic Act 10591 (illegal possession of firearms and ammunition).
Mayames said the Pasay City police remains committed to upholding peace and order in the community.
He added the operation on Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement is part of ongoing efforts of the police to ensure the safety and security of all residents.
