BACOLOD CITY – A Grade 11 student and a suspected drug pusher were arrested in a buy-bust operation on Burgos St., Barangay 1 Poblacion, Pontevedra, Negros Occidental on Monday, January 8.
Police withheld the name of the suspect aged 19, a resident of Barangay DSB, Pontevedra.
Police Lt. Darryl Kuhutan, deputy chief of the Pontevedra Municipal Police Station, said they have been monitoring the suspect since last year after receiving information about his illegal activities.
Kuhutan said the suspect’s minor companion, a Grade 11 student aged 17 from Barangay Recreo, Pontevedra, reportedly drives a tricycle or pedicab for the suspect in their transactions.
Seized from there were P20,400 worth of suspected shabu, P500 marked money, an improvised tooter, and other non-drug items.
Kuhutan said that most drug personalities use teenagers or minors to transact with their customers to avoid detection.
The minor was turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Kuhutan said they will dig deeper to identify the source or the person who influenced the suspects.
