The Parañaque city government announced that the Center for Children with Special Needs (CSN) will conduct an urban gardening activity on Jan. 22.
Parañaque City Mayor Eric Olivarez said the urban gardening activity with the theme “Halina’t Magtanim ng Prutas at Gulay” is in celebration of the 28th National Autism Consciousness Week which is being celebrated every third week of January.
Olivarez said parents of children with autism will participate in the activity in coordination with the City Agriculture Office.
He said the CSN was established during the time of former mayor and now First District Rep. Edwin Olivarez in response to the needs of city residents who wanted proper treatment for their children with special needs.
The mayor said the CSN is the first center of its kind in Metro South and the second in greater Manila area.
Olivarez said the center has assisted children with neurodevelopmental disorders, such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome and Cerebral Palsy.
