Residents of Barangays 877 and 878 were emotional as they watched the demolition team tearing down their houses on Paco Roman Street and Syquia Street.

On Jan. 11, tension arose in the area as residents put up barricades to stop the demolition team from destroying their houses in the presence of the Manila Police District personnel.

According to authorities, the area where the houses were built is a private property, and the Supreme Court (SC) had already issued a final order for the removal of the structures.

They said the property owners will provide cash assistance to the affected families.
