2 NPA supporters surrender in Isabela


SANTA MARIA, Isabela – Two New People’s Army supporters surrendered to authorities on January 11.

The surrender of alias Jon, 47, and Lita, 67, residents of Barangay Bangad here was facilitated by the police and the Army.

They said that they were recruited by a woman named Dominga Liaban Aberion, facilitator of Unyon ng Manggagawa sa Agrikultura, in 2018.

They actively participated in meetings and rallies of the UMA in the province of Isabela against the government.

The duo was  promised by the group that they will help them solve their problems regarding low wages and excessive working hours in a sugarcane plantation in the municipality. 

They were also assured assistance in claiming aid in the aftermath of typhoon “Lawin” that ravaged the area in 2018.

The Isabela police led by Police Col. Lee Allen B. Bauding, provincial director, said there is no let-up in their anti-insurgency campaign so that no citizen in this province will be deceived by Leftist groups.
