2 men shot dead in drinking spree

SAN ANTONIO, Quezon – A businessman and an electronics store operator were shot dead by a man during a drinking spree before dawn here on Friday, January 12.

Police identified the victims as businessman Jay R. Burgos Matanguihan, 30, and Mark Johndel Aguila Robles, 22, electronics store operator, both residents of this town.

The victims and their friends were having a drinking spree inside a meat shop when the suspect, Ikong, arrived onboard a motorcycle.

Ikong approached and told the group, “May problema ako, ‘wag kayong sumali” (I have a problem, do not join), then drew a short firearm and fired at the victims.

The suspect fled with the gun towards the direction of Tiaong, Quezon and the victims were taken to a hospital in Lipa City, Batangas where they were declared dead.

Police are conducting a follow-up operation.
