17 arrested for illegal gambling, logging in Caraga


BUTUAN CITY – Police arrested 17 individuals for illegal gambling and illegal logging in the Caraga region from January 1 to 10.

The Police Regional Office 13-Regional Operations Division said 15 persons were nabbed for cockfighting, card games, illegal numbers games, and other forms of illegal gambling.

The Surigao del Norte Police Provincial Office (PPO) arrested eight, Surigao del Sur PPO and Butuan City Police Office, three each, and Agusan del Sur PPO, one.

Those apprehended were charged for violating Presidential Decree No. 1602 which prescribed stiffer penalties for illegal gambling.

Cases have been filed against the two illegal logging suspects for violating Presidential Decree No. 705, the Forestry Code of the Philippines.

The PRO-13 command group cited arresting units for their accomplishments as well as the people of Caraga for supporting the campaign against illegal gambling.
