The Pasig City local government on Wednesday, Jan. 9, inaugurated the newest buildings and facilities of the Pasig City General Hospital (PCGH) as part of its mandate to deliver quality healthcare to Pasigueños.
Pasig Ctiy Mayor Vico Sotto, Vice Mayor Dodot Jaworski, officials from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), PCGH officials, and other city government officials led the inauguration.
The newest buildings -- a 3-storey Autoclave at Laundry Facility and a 4-storey Supply Building -- were constructed through the city government's partnership with the UNDP, the Chinese Embassy, and the Department of Health (DOH).
"Ang Autoclave ay isang makinarya na gumagamit ng steam (high temperature) at pressure para mapuksa ang mga bacteria, virus, fungi, spores (at iba pa) na gamit pang sterilize sa mga ospital katulad ng PCGH (The Autoclave is a type of machinery that uses steam and pressure to kill bacteria, virus, fungi, spores, and many others that is used to sterilize hospitals such as the PCGH)," the local government unit (LGU) said.
The 1st floor of the other building will feature the Oncology department; the 2nd and 4th floors are for supplies area, while the 3rd floor has been designated as the Hemodialysis area.
In May of 2021, a fire hit the PCGH damaging P28 million worth of hemodialysis supplies and more than P1.2M worth of medicines. The Pasig City Public Information Office (PIO) said the fire began at 10:37 a.m. and reached the third alarm before authorities declared it under control at 1:25 p.m.
