Nueva Ecija added another potent weapon in Hesed Gabo to its arsenal and the team made sure to welcome him with a convincing 100-73 victory over RCP Shawarma Jack in the PSL President’s Cup at the FilOil EcoOil Arena on Monday, Jan. 8.

The Capitals, also known as the Rice Vanguards in the MPBL, bucked a slow start before tearing the game apart in the second frame and safely cruising to a perfect 8-0 record so far.
Head coach Jerson Cabiltes fielded all of his 15 players in the contest with only one failing to make it to the scoreboard in the dominant win that served as welcoming celebration to Gabo who is returning to Nueva Ecija following a stint in the PBA.
“Just happy and grateful sa opportunity na binigay sa akin ng Nueva, kina boss Bong (Cuevas), Rianne, and boss Ivan. In terms of the game we’re trying to win it as time goes by,” said Gabo who vowed to help his team reclaim its glory in the PSL and eventually in the MPBL as well.
“All I can promise is siyempre give my 101 percent, contributing any where I can sa team and siyempre 'yung PBA experience, I guess malaking bagay iyon. Lagi naman ang goal namin championship, 'yun naman lagi ang target every league,” he added.
Gabo was still being eased out to Cabiltes’ rotation, finishing with four points and four assists in just 12 minutes of play but guys like Michael Juico and Ralph Robin led his welcoming committee with 15 and 12 points, respectively.
Joshua Montero paced RCP with 21 points while Teytey Teodoro added 10.
