Archdiocese of Ozamis Archbishop Martin Jumoad has called on the faithful particularly the members of the clergy of the Diocese of Pagadian to follow the example of the late Bishop Ronald Lunas who was laid to rest Thursday, Jan. 11.

Archbishop Jumoad, who is currently the apostolic administrator of the diocese, presided over the requiem mass in honor of Bishop Lunas who passed away on Jan. 2 due to complications from his recent heart bypass surgery.
The 57-year-old pride of Davao del Sur was interred beside the Santo Nino Cathedral in Pagadian City.
“Let us try to live out the caring ways of Bishop Lunas. Let us be inspired by his motto ‘Emmanuel.’ And let us continue the programs that he has started for the diocese,” said Archbishop Jumoad.
The Church leader likewise cited the virtues of Bishop Lunas that are worth emulating such as his selflessness, deep devotion to God, his holiness and his simplicity.
Archbishop Jumoad requested the faithful to pray for their priests, the bishops and all Church leaders.
“It is easy to enter the seminary and become a seminarian, difficult to be chosen as a priest but very scarcely and rarely a priest can be called and be ordained a bishop,” said Archbishop Jumoad.
The archbishop earlier called on the faithful to pray for Pope Francis to be able to choose a shepherd for the nine vacant dioceses in the country.
