22-year-old woman dies in Tondo fire

A 22-year-old woman died in a fire that broke out in a residential area at Mayhaligue corner Masangkay, Tondo, Manila on Thursday afternoon, Jan. 11, the Manila Police District (MPD) confirmed.

MPD identified the deceased victim as Ashley Lorente, who was found lying sideways inside her house during the clearing operation. 

Firefighters suspected that she suffered suffocation while trying to get out of the house.

BFP said the fire started at 3:58 p.m. at the house of Stephanie Ajedo.

Firefighters were able to put the fire under control at 4:20 p.m. and extinguished it at 4:28 p.m.

Based on the initial investigation, approximately 50 families were affected while the cost of damages reached P50,000.


Arson investigators are still determining the origin of the fire.
