Gov. Fernando honors young Bulakenyo athletes for bringing home 36 medals
Bulacan Governor Daniel R. Fernando congratulated the young Bulakenyo athletes who brought home a total of 36 medals from the recently concluded Batang Pinoy 2023 sports competition held in Tagaytay and Manila last Dec. 17-22.

Fernando, in a telephone interview with Manila Bulletin on Wednesday, Jan. 10, said he commended the young Bulakenyo athletes at the Provincial Capitol Gymnasium in the City of Malolos last Monday, Jan. 8, for their efforts in representing the province of Bulacan with flying colors in the sports competition.
He said the young Bulakenyo athletes did not only bring huge success for themselves but likewise for the province. Fernando expressed hope that more young athletes will follow in their footsteps.
The Bulacan team won one gold medal in Arnis; two bronze medals in Athletics; one in Archery; two fold, four silver, and four bronze medals for chess; three gold, one silver for gymnastics; seven gold, five silver for swimming; one silver for taekwondo; one silver, three bronze for weightlifting; and one silver for wrestling.
The Philippine Youth Games or Batang Pinoy serves as the national sports competition in the Philippines, which is specifically designed for individuals under the age of 15. Batang Pinoy extends its participation to out-of-school youth as well.
