QC LGU, DOTr, DOLE distribute livelihood aid to 173 displaced PUV drivers, operators
Around 173 public utility drivers (PUV) and operators in Quezon City received livelihood aid from the local government, the Department of Transportation (DoTr), and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on Tuesday, Jan. 9.

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte led the distribution of the livelihood assistance packages worth P30,000 each to the beneficiaries under the national government's EnTSUPERneur program.
The local government said that the beneficiaries received supplies and starter kits for the livelihood of their choice including "bigasan" (rice supply store), "Nego-Kart (food cart)," carwash, or carinderia.
The program aims to provide for the needs of the PUV drivers and operators who were affected by the PUV Mondernization Program which required the phase out of traditional jeepneys that will be replaced by modern and eco-friendly vehicles.
PUV drivers and operators were given until Dec. 31, last year to join a cooperative for consolidation.
DOLE Assistant Secretary Dominique Tutay and Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) NCR head Atty. Zona Russet Tamayo were present during the distribution.
