East zone concessionaire Manila Water Co., Inc. announced that the Hinulugang Taktak sewage treatment plant (STP) in Antipolo, Rizal is scheduled to become operational by December this year.
In a statement on Wednesday, Jan. 10, Manila Water reported that the construction, which amounts to P2.5 billion, is over 50 percent complete. Upon completion, the STP is poised to deliver environmentally friendly water solutions to Antipolo province by treating over 16 million liters of wastewater per day.
Those who will greatly benefit from the new water infrastructure would be the 148,000 consumers situated in barangays dela Paz, San Isidro, San Roque, and San Jose.
“The project aims to maintain and rehabilitate the ecological balance in the area by treating up to 16 million liters per day of wastewater from households before discharging it to the falls,” Manila Water said.
The STP project was a collaboration between the concessionaire, the Rizal provincial government, and the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS).
The joint partnership would enhance environment sanitation in Antipolo.
Jeric Sevilla, Manial Water corporate communications affairs group director highlighted that sanitation is their priority in service improvement, thus the upcoming Hinulugang Taktak STP.
“We believe that by providing quality sanitation, we are contributing to better community health and environmental sustainability in the province,” he shared.
