The project is inspired by the Malabon city government's "Malabon Ahon" program and aims to uplift the families of PDL by providing them livelihood opportunities while they are detained.

"Ang kita na kanilang nakakamit mula sa proyektong ito ay malaking tulong para sa kanilang mga pamilya (The income they earn from this project is a big help for their families)," local government said in a Facebook post.

"Sa kabila ng kanilang pagkakapiit, nagsilbing instrumento sila ng pag-asa para sa kanilang mga mahal sa buhay (Despite their detention, they have become instruments of hope for their loved ones)," it added.

Meanwhile, the City Public Information Office (PIO) mentioned that the bread provided by Pan-de-ahon was crafted by PDLs, who underwent training facilitated by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).

The project has instilled a renewed sense of purpose in the lives of PDLs, fostering personal development and promoting responsible participation in society during their time in detention.

Moreover, the city government pointed out that the entrepreneurial skills acquired by PDLs are beneficial not only while in detention but also after their eventual release, empowering them to apply these skills beyond prison walls.

Moreover, the city government encourages the public to support the project and its products.
